Why University Village Shopping Center in Colorado Springs ?
Actually, the only reason that I discovered this shopping center was Costco.
We live in the Southwest of Colorado Springs and this area is notoriously “underserved” with retail shops. Don’t get me wrong, I love living here, but shopping can turn into a full day event if you need to go to the other side of town to be able to check all items off your list.
So I was happy when Costco on North Nevada opened. About all I knew about this area, and I didn’t pay much attention either until about 6 months ago when I realized just how many retailers have finally occupied this space. Food Service Retailers
My friend had gushed about the great food at the Hacienda Mexican Restaurant and I loved meeting my clients and business friends at the huge Panera with plenty of outside seating and great panoramic views.
I really started taking notice and liked the fact that I can get most of my shopping done in one place and still meet clients. All in one. The backdrop of the beautiful Rocky Mountain Front Range is an added plus and regardless of where I am a somewhat rejuvenating experience. (I am not kidding – the mountains are breathtaking)
What made this shopping center especially attractive was the close proximity to I-25. Its closer than the Briargate mall, much closer than Briargate Shopping center (which I like very much as well, but do not always have time for) and the variety of small shops and large retailers. Though it’s farther by miles, it proved to be much quicker for me to zip up I-25 to Exit 146 than to actually make my way over to the east side of Colorado Springs to shop on Powers Blvd.
There is a farmers market on the weekends and the shopping center even has it’s own UVC running club meets there as well. Where would they run?
The shopping center has direct access to the Pikes Peak Greenway trail with a 4 or 6 mile course and a 1-mile on-site walking course as well.
How do you get there?
Like previously mentioned, take I 25 and if you are going north exit at Gardens of the Gods (146) turning east until you hit Nevada Avenue, then turn north. If you are heading south on I 25 it’s easy to exit on N Nevada Ave and head south – or simply follow the line of cars.
