woodland parkTake a drive up a narrow canyon carved out by a small creek that twists and turns along the side of Pikes Peak. You will pass deep crevices and ravines colored with the dark green of pine trees and dotted with adorable cabins and homes nestled in the shadow of the mountain. As you continue up the canyon, called Ute Pass, it suddenly opens up into a broad view of meadows and mountain tops. Nestled in these meadows is a little city that hugs the side of America’s mountain. This city is known as the City Above The Clouds, because at 8500′, there are many days Woodland Park feels the warmth of the sun’s rays while Colorado Springs, and the towns tucked along Ute Pass, are in the shadows of the clouds.

Woodland Park is quiet, offers a feast for your eyes, and invigorates your senses with the fresh mountain air. This town was once a summer playground for vacationers looking for a quiet place to build their cabin, however, it’s close proximity to Colorado Springs made it a perfect bedroom community for those seeking a permanent vacation close to their work.

The culture in Woodland Park is growing as fast as the community. Micro-breweries, local restaurants, art galleries, and a new, modern library are evidence of the popularity and growth of this city of nearly 9,000; not to mention, a new Regional Medical Center to keep up with the demands of the ever-growing mountain communities in Teller and Park Counties.
