In Colorado Springs you can find one of three US national Olympic Training centers. I have managed to live in Colorado Springs for 8 years and NEVER visited the Olympic Center. I know that Apolo Ohno, trained here and there are rumors that he would ‘hop’ up the incline…..I digress.
The Olympic Center itself was a former North American Defense Command headquarters and then officially became USOC administrative headquarters in July 1978.
The Training Center is located quite centrally and it’s easy to find.
The tours start about every 30 minutes and are only about an hour long FREE and are done quite well put together. While most of it is outdoors, you will get to go inside and get a peek at some of the athletes training. Once the tour ends you’ll end up at the OC store where you can buy all kinds of Olympic merchandise.
So glad I finally went. It’s definitely a tourist stop for our Colorado Springs visitors.
