History

Gold Hill Mesa has a rich history and used to be the site of the Golden Cycle Mill. The mill was one of four mills that were located along what is now Highway 24. Gold ore was transported on trains from Cripple Creek to the mills in Colorado Springs where gold was extracted. The Golden Cycle Mill was the last one to close in 1947. The smoke stack, visible from Highway 24 and the Interstate 25, remains as a callback to this part of Colorado history.

New Concept Living

Gold Hill Mesa is a Traditional Neighborhood Development. It encompasses low maintenance living and aims to diversify the styles of homes to provide a varied but cohesive design. Residents enjoy small front and side yards and common greenspace areas. Most homes have garage alleys that allow residents to hang out on their front porches and chat with neighbors as they pass by on their walks.

HOA fees include community area maintenance, trash and snow removal, fitness center access and the ability to reserve the community center for private events. These amenities are governed by the Homeowners Associations to help maintain community aesthetic standards and provide their residents with a simpler way of living. This neighborhood is dedicated to recycling land in the center of the city.

Gold Hill Mesa is a tight knit community. Just as the developers had envisioned, the old school style of community experiences a renaissance here. People talk to each other, watch out for each other and create community events like neighborhood wide Easter egg hunts and Halloween hayrides. There are also several resident organized groups like a hiking group, a parent group, a book club, and more. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

Homes in Gold Hill Mesa

Gold Hill Mesa is a sustainable community for today and for generations to come. It is a community that restores the traditions of yesteryear to create a new way to live well on the west side of Colorado Springs. This is a newer neighborhood with purpose that is conscientiously designed to make a positive impact from the ground up.

There are 3 sizes of townhomes and single family detached homes in all shapes and sizes. The single family homes have especially unique yards. Most of these homes are built to one side. The “open side” has lots of windows and walk outs to the side yard, while the “closed side” of the home has few windows, transom windows or obscured windows. This unusual design supports living to one side of the house. Usable yard space is only on the open side of the home. Homes were given a use easement by the adjacent neighbor to make the yard larger.  This allows for maximum yard space and elevates quality of outdoor living in Gold Hill Mesa.

There are currently about 620 homes in Gold Hill Mesa and the last filing of new construction homes is under construction. There will only be existing homes available in the future. But there are plans for a neighboring community from the same developer to offer new construction options in 2023.
