History
Gold Hill Mesa has a rich history and used to be the site of the Golden Cycle Mill. The mill was one of four mills that were located along what is now Highway 24. Gold ore was transported on trains from Cripple Creek to the mills in Colorado Springs where gold was extracted. The Golden Cycle Mill was the last one to close in 1947. The smoke stack, visible from Highway 24 and the Interstate 25, remains as a callback to this part of Colorado history.

The “open side” has lots of windows and walk outs to the side yard, while the “closed side” of the home has few windows, transom windows or obscured windows. This unusual design supports living to one side of the house. Usable yard space is only on the open side of the home. Homes were given a use easement by the adjacent neighbor to make the yard larger. This allows for maximum yard space and elevates quality of outdoor living in Gold Hill Mesa.
