Day Trip Royal Gorge Park in Canyon City, CO

It’s been almost exactly a year that I took my family out to the Royal Gorge Bridge Park. “Back then” we went because May was (is)  Military Apprecation month in Fremont County and we were able to get into the park for half price.

Royal Gorge Park, sure is worth a day trip, but if you want to make it a weekend stay in a hotel in Canyon City or simply pop up your tent or camper at a campsite near by. Hike, bike, run, raft one day and visit the entertainment park the next day. For a complete “Royal Gorge” event take the Royal Gorge Train leaving Canyon City, giving you a great view of this beautiful canyon.

Make sure you keep an eye out for Groupons or other discounts all year around to make this fun as affordable as possible.

This year -same thing:

May 1-31 – Fremont County Appreciation Month and Military Appreciation Month (make sure you check every year, though I am posting this too late for 2012)

All Fremont County residents with photo ID and active and retired military with military ID and their families will receive 50% off of the general admission fee or season passes (Not valid for family season passes).

Mark your calendars for :

  • June 17 – Father’s Get in Free Day

I don’t think we’ll be taking advantage of this offer this year, however I would like to suggest this park to you as it really is great fun. The park seems to ad new entertainment every year. Last year the new attraction was the Skycoaster – basically a huge swing that you were strapped to.

Please know that last year we were still active duty in the Army hence, I participated in a project called Realmilitarywives.tv (you should check it out!) -The rights to the video are all mine!
