County School Districts Map

If you’re planning to move your family to Colorado Springs, you’re probably researching the various school options. There are a lot of considerations when choosing the right neighborhood in the Springs, but choosing the right elementary school, middle school or high school for your kids ranks among the most important factors. Looking for Choice In information? We have that covered for your as well.

There are a few factors to consider when selecting the right school district, and priorities can vary among families. Some parents are concerned about special education programs, while others look at sports and elective options. We typically see parents ask questions about average test scores, graduation rates, and classroom size.

The good news is that the Springs has some really great schools. For example, The Colorado Springs School in Broadmoor is one of the highest ranked Pre-k-12 schools in the entire state!  We realize that the great options and multiple school districts can start to get overwhelming for people moving to Colorado Springs.

Did you know that Colorado Springs has a Choice In option for your kids? You are not restricted to the school districts where you live. You can choose any of the public or charter schools in Colorado Springs as long as there is space available for your student.

Other sources for research:

Keep in mind that home values and rental prices usually reflect the school district’s rating even though we have this Choice-In option for kids.

Below we have a full list of public school districts in Colorado Springs. You’ll need to determine WHICH kind of school you’d like your child to attend: Public school? Charter School? Magnet School?

School Choice Tips:

  • You’ll need to go through an application process through your school district to choice your student to a different school.
  • You might need to re-apply every year and for every sibling depending on the district and school policies.
  • Many schools host Choice Nights in January and February. These are great opportunities to learn more about the school, what the offer, and if it’s a good fit for your family.
  • If the desired school district has not published their choice in window dates, make sure to check in often and apply early regardless of what the choice process is.
  • Some schools may accept applications on a space available basis even after the choice in windows have closed.
  • Schools have the right to decline students depending on certain factors such as attendance, requirements, age, etc.
  • Bus transportation might not be available for out of district/choiced in students.
  • Only a parent or guardian may enroll a student into a school district.
