Colorado is arguably one of the best places in the United States to really get a feeling of how big and gorgeous the Earth really is. The air is pure and refreshing. The sounds are calm and soothing. Even the wildlife is happier than that of other states. The only problem is that you won’t find this kind of Colorado treatment in the entire state. For example, Denver might be a very great place, but as the cities grows in population it is becoming over-crowded and congested. It simply cannot compare to Colorado Springs when it comes to really embracing Colorado. Denver just doesn’t have the aura that the Springs can fill you with. Here is why Colorado Springs will make a better home than Denver.

The city is overpopulated

Denver has become one of the most popular destinations to move in the country. In fact, so many people have moved there in the past few years that native Coloradans are beginning to move out. However, Colorado Springs is much more laid back. It is not as packed as the city and is great for anyone to feel at home. This is especially wonderful for people that have never been to Colorado before. Colorado Springs gives the same city feel, without the masses of people.

Closer to the outdoors

In Colorado Springs, you will find yourself surrounded with incredible views. Of course, you get practically the same views in Denver, but to actually travel to those views is a major difference. To get to the mountains from the city of Denver can be quite a hassle but the mountains are practically in your backyard as a resident of the Springs.

Time to play! Mountain biking (actually IN the mountains) minutes from where you live, trail running, hiking, adventuring, snow shoeing, dirtbiking, camping in the mountains

The cost of living

Due to the demand of housing in Denver, the cost of living has increased immensely. Bidding wars are off the charts and if you’re lucky enough to find a house, you definitely won’t be getting your money’s worth. Even groceries, gas and other necessities are more expensive in Denver. In Colorado Springs, there are reasonable housing options and amenities nearby. This said, even the market in the Springs is hot right now, so you’ll definitely want to have the right Realtor on your side.

Family friendly atmosphere

The more Denver adopts the big city lifestyle, the more you will find isolation. People living in large cities lose sense of communication outside of their busy lifestyles. In Colorado Springs, you can expect to be warmly greeted by most anyone in public. This creates a more family friendly vibe that most of us desire when looking for a place to live. If you are looking to make good close friends, Colorado Springs might be it for you.

Commute times

Denver has started to become so congested over the past few years that rush hour has has become an almost endless battle. When working in denver, you can basically tack on an extra hour or two each day for your work commute. That can become really draining and demotivating for some. In Colorado Springs, you can find very little congestion and make the most of your commute. You really don’t know how much traffic can take away from your life at times until you do the math.

Creeks, rivers, and lakes

Located in the high country of Colorado Springs, you will find a fabulous assortment of creeks, rivers, and lakes. Have you been to Rampart Range reservoir yet? How about Crystal Creek Reservoir? Maybe Catamount Reservoirs? They are all close by and great for canoeing and stand up paddling.

Head down to Pueblo to the Lake Pueblo State Park for all water sports or downtown Pueblo to the  Pueblo Whitewater Park Opens.    So much to do, so little time.

Places like Cripple Creek, Florissant, and Lake George flow through the area of Pikes Peak. And, what comes with gorgeous views? Gorgeous homes. The top neighborhoods in the city are each special for their own reasons.

Garden of the Gods

Colorado Springs boasts many features and attractions but perhaps one of the most popular is the registered national park, known as the Garden of the Gods. It happens to be one of the most amazing scenic parks in America and people come from all over the nation to experience its wonders. Imagine craning your neck to see enormous 300 feet tall sandstone rock towering above you. The gorgeous green on red scenery provides your eyes with views you thought you could only dream of. You can do some front range climbing at your leisure. Maybe you can take the day and enjoy one of their jeep and segway tours. If you really love biking, try taking on their bike trails.

Military city

In Colorado Springs, you will notice a few military bases in the area. This is a major attraction for both people in and out of the military, in fact, Fort Carson is one of the most desirable military stations in the nation. The crime rate is vastly lower than that of Denver which makes it a great area to raise a family.

In Colorado Springs you have an array of activities to keep you from ever being bored, gorgeous views that you can attend to, and the opportunity to live safety among your neighbors. If this isn’t convincing enough, try to ask a friend that lives in Colorado what they think. This can help you figure it out!
