The holiday season is upon us! As the popular song proclaims, “it’s the most wonderful time of year” for those of us who love that time between November 1 and New Year’s. The holiday shopping season is starting earlier than ever this year, but we’ve got you covered.
We completely understand the motivation to take advantage of the sales from major retailers, especially with inflation tightening everyone’s budgets. But each year we hope to encourage our readers to support small business by curating a wonderful list of Colorado Christmas gift ideas. We start our research in October so you have plenty of time to get your holiday shopping done!

WHITTLE BIRCHES
Courtney and Kirsten are the sisters behind the punny cheese boards and gifts at Whittle Birches. They started this business during the pandemic by creating funny, themed designs and carving them onto boards intended for charcuterie spreads. They accept custom orders to personalize boards with a last name or a specific design, and they also create boards for just about every occasion and holiday. These would make great gifts for anyone on your list for the winter holidays and beyond. How cute would custom boards be for wedding gifts?
Want something a little extra? They can create a customized gift basket for you centered around one of their board. Whittle Birches also partners with another local business, Snack Board Co, so you can opt to receive your Whittle Birches board covered with a gorgeous and delicious snack spread of your choice (extra fees apply). To order, DM Whittle Birches on Facebook or Instagram: @whittle.birches. Hurry: order deadline for holiday gifts is December 5 based on availability.

Their tea “products are artisan handcrafted in small batches and handmade to order.” We even worked with Mandalyn to create charming custom client gifts this fall and absolutely loved what she came up with! YOUNG BOOKWORMS
Have you heard about this new unique bookstore right here in Colorado Springs? Owner Joni McCoy has self-published dozens of books and started selling them at local farmers markets. She eventually expanded into the Young Bookworms storefront that exclusively carries self-published books for children through young adults. The store is also set up a little differently from a traditional bookstore. All of the books offered are displayed with the covers facing out so it’s easy for children to select books.
You can order directly through their website (orders over $60 ship free) or visit their store in the Woodmen Plaza shopping center in Colorado Springs. Young Bookworms even offers monthly subscription boxes. For $49.99 the recipient receives a monthly package with books and assorted goodies from the store. Have little ones? Santa will visit Young Bookworms starting November 25 and you can schedule a photo with him on their website.
